// ANTM Cycle 18 Episode 1 Recap//
It’s a new season of America’s Next Top Model, and I have decided to write a recap of what I thought of the episodes every week. I just want to see how much followers I can get and what people think of my critique. So make sure you follow me!
Anyways, back to the show. To Tyra: This British Invasion idea is so stupid. It’s supposed to be called AMERICA’s Next Top Model! You DO realize that each cycle is getting worse and worse… I don’t like how they are starting to skip casting week. Casting week is the best part of the show… because it’s so funny getting to know all the girls before. Watching the first episode, I felt like it was actually the 3rd episode already. Everything was just way too fast-paced.
Also, WHY THE FUCK ARE THERE SO MANY BLACK GIRLS THIS CYCLE?! You would think that they could have found some asians for once for the show. Honestly, I am very disappointed with the cast of cycle 18. I just think that so many of these girls don’t look the least bit fashionable. And most of them are super ordinary/not high fashion. Eh.
Here’s my opinion about every girl this episode!
Seymone:
Seymone is the plus size American girl this cycle. I think she is super commercial and is definitely not fit for the high fashion industry. So, that pretty much flings the chances of her winning the competition out the window. If she’s lucky and her personality shines, she’ll get as far as top 5. I definitely have seen her look before, so she’s just another normal-sized girl. Honestly, I don’t understand how she got on the show. Her photograph, portraying Michelle Obama, was eh; it WAS one of the better photographs of the bunch, but that’s just probably because the cast of season 18 is kind of shitty.
Annaliese:
I don’t think she’s anything special. I honestly don’t really have much to say about her, probably because they didn’t show enough of her or her personality. Doubt she’ll go far in the competition.
Katherine:
My first impression of Katherine was that her nose looked a little awkward when she was on the runway, so I didn’t really find her modelly. However, when they showed her close-up, she actually looked quite pretty and her nose didn’t look as weird. I believe she has potential and she’ll go far, if not win the competition. She looks very much like one of the Babin twins from Cycle 7. I wasn’t a fan of her photograph, but it was okay, only because the make-up and her look can look super old-fashioned (which made the picture work, as she was portraying Queen Elisabeth)
Azmarie:
Wow, this girl is SUPER androgenous. I mean, Tyra called Sara Longoria from last cycle androgenous, but she is nothing compared to Azmarie. Azmarie even dresses like a man. Leave it to Tyra to pick someone like her to be on the show. However, I did think that Azmarie looked much more fashionable/feminine with her make-up on. Especially on the runway when she was looking profile after being smacked by Alisha’s jacket. I didn’t like her photograph at all; mostly because of the styling. I can see her in the top 5.
Candace:
I THINK Candace might have a teensy bit of potential for being a model, but I’m not quite sure at the moment. I like how the ends of her eyes tilt upwards, making her look different than any other black lady. I thought the top half of Candace’s photograph (portraying Janet Jackson) looked really pretty, but the bottom half of her body looked awkward.
Laura:
For some odd reason, this girl reminds me of hipster version of Julia Roberts. I definitely see some potential in her, after she is all made up and everything. She might look even more modelly after the makeover next week. I’m not a huge fan of her personality because its kind of loud and obnoxious; plus, she talks like a hood rat. I was honestly kind of hoping that she’d be one of the quiet, awkward ones, but no. Anywho, I DO however like her look and I can see her in the final 4. (if she steps up her runway walk; I seriously thought she was about to start tearing off her clothes at the end of the runway) As for her photograph, it was one of the better ones of the bunch for sure, partly because of her styling.
Sophie:
I have mixed feelings about Sophie. I feel like I HAVE seen her look before, but it hasn’t been exposed ever before on Top Model. She would definitely fit more into the high fashion category than commercial. I do think that she will produce some very nice photographs in the following weeks. I didn’t like her face at all in her photograph; don’t understand why her photograph got so much praise.
Alisha:
I don’t like her look at all. Nothing about her is fresh or unique. I don’t even think she is genuinely pretty; her face looks pretty old to me. I am betting she will be eliminated very soon. Her photograph sucked. Nothing else to say about her.
Mariah:
She might be the winner of America’s Next Top Model, only because she is Native American and the CW have not claimed a Native American winner yet. Not going to lie, I think she is super stunning. I like her look a lot. I think she can produce some kick-ass photographs it the future. Too early to tell. Her photograph was okay, not the best and not the worst. I loved the styling of Pocahontas though.
Louise:
Louise smacks down Seymone hands down in terms of being booked in the actual world of fashion as a model. I think she does have a place in the high fashion industry (if not already) and I believe she will go pretty far in the competition. Louise looked very beautiful in her photograph, but only because she herself is a beautiful girl. Other than her gorgeous face, her body was way too stiff.
Kyle: Kyle reminds me of a skinny-faced Katy Perry combined with Jessica Serfaty from cycle 14. She won’t win this competition, I guarantee. I don’t think she is special enough; just another beautiful girl. Also, she is very commercial as well. I disagree completely with the judges opinions on her photograph. I didn’t like her body positioning at all. Shouldn’t have been praised so much.
Jasmia:
She looks pretty latino and reminds me strangely of Lulu from cycle 13 (short cycle). I didn’t think she should have went home; the judges should have picked her over Alisha. I thought her photo looked way better than Alisha; at least it had energy as Alisha’s didn’t.
Ashley:
I do like Ashley. I think she will go pretty far in the competition just for publicity, but I am pretty sure she will not win. Her accent is hilarious and I’m sure we will all be expecting some good laughs from this girl. I also disagree with the judges about her photograph portraying Princess Diane. I actually thought it was one of the better ones; she looked gorgeous.
Ebony:
I’ve definitely seen her look before. Just another black girl trying to find a place in the modeling industry. Nothing else to say about her. I don’t think she’ll stay in the competition long.
